What is Flash Remoting?
Flash remoting is the technical term for efficiently transfering
data to a flash client and back again.
It has features that many describe as Web 2.0 where a website can act more like a desktop application.
What is new about Flash Remoting?
Flash remoting is not new. It has been around since 2002 and originally developed by Macromedia.
To purchase the flash remoting kit is expensive (approx $ 1000 US).
There are now alternatives that perform in a similar way but at a fraction of the cost.
What can it do?
A great example of the possibilities for flash remoting is Real Estate.
If you owned a small Real Estate company and wanted to get your properties on other websites but maintain one database Flash Remoting is for you.
Due to the efficiency in the transfer of data and the fact it quickly converts data from for example a java website to any other website holding the flash client you could allow someone on another site to search your database.
Booking systems and many other applications can use Flash Remoting.
